Oh okay this is as good as everyone says

This is so uncomfy for me, as I’m sure it is for most anyone. She is so incredibly brave. What she survived is unimaginable. It’s also a lesson in human behavior and no perfect victims. The way she treats her daughter is so dismissive of her daughter’s suffering. Her daughter who was abused by the same man. The same man who it seems was troubled his whole life. Getting the inside view is fascinating and awful.

Finding this a little slow and kind of depressing. It takes place at the “end” of the pandemic in 2021, though written during the pandemic. The subject matter isn’t about that but it’s also heavy.

This is interesting. Well done. The layers build. I trust no one!

I have told a character out loud to shut up more than once. Some of it feels heavy handed so I either know exactly where this is going or am in for some twists. Entertaining regardless.

Damn this is good. Hard to put down. Character driven, family saga, hard truths and struggles. We had to wait a long time but KRW’s done it again.

Literary, tense, spare, emotional. Yet again, her cover does not match the content.

So intriguing and unusual

Reading this whole tender book with a lump in my throat for reasons I can’t explain. It’s so human? To be fair, the lump goes away when I’m sobbing.

Oh yall I am really not into this. It’s dragging. I don’t but the connection between the two MCs and don’t feel any spark and without that, the plot holes just…it all really falls flat for me. Major things keep getting skipped over bc the FMC is literally like ‘eh you don’t want to hear about that while big thing that happened, it was boring I’ll sum up” WHAT?

Was t sure what to expect but this is fun. Knives out meets Christmas meets romcom, kinda

Cozy, meandering, seasonal enough.

Love BK Borison. This is fun and sweet and a little weird in a perfect way. I mean it’s about a Christmas ghost and a live lady. It’s going to require suspension of disbelief. What she does so well is getting you in it with them, believing it.

The “if this were a cheesey Hallmark movie these trope-y things would happen but it’s not a movie so they won’t happen. Whoa, oh wow, they’re happening!” bit is very tiresome. Just write the story you want to write! Also we keep being told there is so much chemistry with the male lead but….i see none of it.

This is exactly what I want in a holiday book. So much Christmas atmosphere, a strong sense of place, family, real life problems, quaint, love interests. Perfect, bring it on.

A million stars so far. This is going way too fast!

So I’m dogearing every page as usual

Man she can write a closed-off character you maybe hate and can’t imagine liking, only to inevitably fall in love with them. I just cannot out her books down. She gets better and better. They feel real and raw in a way not many other books—especially not romcoms—do.

Easy reading, 47 points of view, classic Hilderbrand, fall setting, what’s not to like.

This would be an amazing miniseries

I also don’t particularly like the main character? I thought it was going to reveal something when she kept interrupting everyone in the beginning but maybe the reveal is just that I don’t like her much.

This is interesting and kind of fun. But also falling a bit flat for me. I feel like I’m still waiting for it to take off. I realized one of the challenges I have with it is I want more fun and more banter from this kind of book. Maybe that’s on me and not the book.

Enjoying this so far. It also feels a little bit at arm’s length and like I’m waiting for things to happen. We are one third in and have barely met both love interests yet. How is this going to happen in the time we have left?! It is a quick read though I’ll give it that.

Loving so far. I have a feeling this is going to be a perfect fall book.

I don’t know. A lot happening and nothing happening? The blurb on the back gives stuff away that hasn’t happened even 100 pages in and I don’t love where it’s headed. Also, to quote Leslie Knope, “What’s your favorite part?” “The heavy-handedness.”

The narrator has a Boston accent, which I thought was illegal.

Some of the math is losing me but that’s probably what I get for reading this on audio
