This book is so goofy, even when it deals with serious topics and the stakes should be high. “She didn’t have any valid excuse” — just say they can’t come because they’re ill or wounded, that they have other plans or, I don’t know, that they aren’t spoiled royals and therefore actually have to work to stay alive? I’m so tired of this girl.
