It reads like VSB, unsurprisingly: a mix of setbacks and light humor. I assume I may be in on the jokes due to common experiences, though I miss some of the pop culture references b/c i'm kinda oblivious.

A good friend who has a great sense of humor sent me this as a gift. I’m appalled that Amazon is making cash off of reviews on their own site, but at least it was a gift. Some laughs so far...

Please, can America have this dignity back?

Listening and reading interchangeably, I'm kinda sobbing my way through this book. We once had decent and respectable leaders. I miss hope.

Plowing through today. It's infuriating, though not very illuminating, but worth Woodward's time to get it verified and written for posterity.

There's something too on-the-nose about this book. I'm glad Woodward did this work for us, don't get me wrong. It's just hard to relive it all so soon. I'd planned to plow through in one weekend, but a break is necessary.

This is okay for what it is, but I don' think she has much to say yet.

A sentimental re-read. It stands up, though in the audiobook his voice is younger and less confident, or more overconfident. ??? 2000/2007 precede his more global experiences and social awakenings.

It's some creativity exercises read in Questlove's voice. Kinda interesting, not revolutionary, but okay.

Well, I'm about 2/3 into it. My main wonders are about the nature of the memoir/autobiography as a form and related ethical questions. He's painting a self-portrait, particularly desperately wanting us to know he thinks he's a great husband and father while also always the man in the rooms in DC with the most integrity. It's getting less believable for me as he presses his own case page after page.

I haven't found a way to focus while reading this yet; it hasn't pulled me in, though the characters are interesting and the story seems to have potential. Just working through a chapter at a time and hoping to keep the thread in the interims.

More triggering for me than the strongly written informational text is is meant as for Others. But today it is comforting to me, knowing I’m not alone.
