“ seeing Sam suffer from something that easily could have been avoided“ I agree with you, Ben, most of the situations that you get yourself into are because you have three dogs and have not figured out how to use a leash

Lisa Lucas is starting Resignation: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival series 13 (Dark Road)
In every book of this series, I find myself thinking of the wasted opportunity not expanding on the small groups/couples “Ben & the others” run across. If less time was spent on the inner monologue of contemplating every decision made or about to be made, there would be plenty of pages to dedicate to Ben’s group having a deeper conversation w/ these smaller groups. It would make the book much more interesting.

Very cool time traveling concept, and I love it! Hard to stop listening. Ray Porter is amazing as always! I found this book by looking through his narrated novels list.

Finished book 1. Not a bad read, 3/5*s so far. Character development is a little flat, how could Elena not ask about where the strange boy came from the first couple times she noticed him... Or esp when he came into Bonnie's house...

An easy read, being a YA novel, but still interesting enough to keep my attention. Who doesn't love vampires intertwined with the classic star crossed lovers theme after all? I have rolled my eyes a few times at some of the things the young Elena and her 2 buddies have done... I mean really, who does a blood oath this day and age? And with only a pinprick? And the whole "queen of the school" nonsense...

One of my favorite quotes, "what difference does that make? 'I,' 'we,' what does it matter?" "One be true, one be a lie. How much more difference could there be?"

Very nice story so far, a great tub read when trying to relax after a long day. Very sweet young boy, and you can tell early on where the story is going, but I may end up being wrong, we will see

Still disappointed that the bookswap feature is gone, and they haven't brought it back:( Making a goal to read 100 books this year, and try to read at least an hour every night before bed. I have so many good books that are just sitting on my shelves!!

I understand that this is a young adult book but the overuse of exclamation points is a little annoying

So far I like the way the way the plot is set up. Also it is written in a way that throws on a bunch of medical jargon (as it is a medical drama) and explains what each thing means for readers without medical background, without sounding redundant and unnecessary for those that do have medical knowledge

This is turning out to be quite a good story. I'm afraid of actually saying anything specific because anything I would say feels as if it would be a spoiler. "If we are bound by fate and inevitability, then why should we concern ourselves?"

A lot of plot building up in these first 20 pages. Hopefully it will not be disappointing

Use of the word hellhole and difficult words like turpitudinous and long character names like Dr. Velhildegildus is making me wonder if this book is really marketed as a children's book

More awkward sentences. They are distracting me from the story. I'm finding my mind rearranging words to make sentences less awkward. Another example. "The largest room on the ground floor, wherein he now sat, was given over to his consulting salon, complete with an outrageously expensive leather couch, matching chair, and a valuable, finely crafted desk at which he wrote his patients' notes." very distracting.

A few awkward sentences. Example "...brandishing the worn board whereupon were scrawled his mendacious claims." Still an interesting plot.
