Interesting. Goodreads only shows record of me reading three from this series, most recently 2008. My memory tells me I read 10 or more, and that I swore off the series because the character relationships were recycling in a way that really irritated me. I decided to give this recent installment a shot. One chapter in, I like it and wonder if I should circle back. Maybe I will!

I don't think I, reading a book that is half about a boy named Dave, and half about a marten named Martin, have any right at all to complain about the rampant anthropomorphism of this book.

The Edith Wharton story was deliciously atmospheric and engaging and the Wodehouse was utterly delightful.

I wanted to read this for Halloween. Better late than never, right? Audrey story is very successfully vivid and creepy.

Huh. I am reading this for book group, and I have to admit I came in with a bit of a bad attitude. "This will never work for me" I declared to myself. "I already purged hundreds of books this year, and I clear out my clothes as vengefully as I can muster all the time; what more could I possibly do?" Well. I am feeling some inspiration after all.

This book has jumped the shark in a big way. Totally ridiculous!

This is a fascinating book. Phenomenology, mirror neurons, the philosophy behind the game of Go, the decorative purpose of housecats and houseplants.... Fascinating.
