Randall is (for over 5-7 pages) trying to “make sure” being alone with his “mistress” isn’t a trap in the most weird way. I am so bored

This is by far the weakest Murdoch I have read. I keep thinking “did she write this early on”? But then I remember how amazing “under the bet” was. What is happening here? It looks like she creates weird stalling moments to induce suspense and interest but really she is boring me.

Murdochs are so peculiar. Her descriptions are striking, but her language is dense, yet the stories are so absorbing you can’t let go.

So far the least favorite I am gonna give it a chance until the end to see

This is the third Agnes Owens I am reading, in a row might I add. Every book of hers I finish I feel hungry for more.
