First of all - why do I keep forgetting to log all the e-books I buy throughout the year until late December EVERY SINGLE year and have to spend much of my Christmas holidays basically doing data entry?
Secondly - Payback in Death by J.D. Robb has the honour of being my 5000th book. So that's fun.

I think my least favourite part of the friends to lovers trope is the “oh, no, it was just a terrible mistake, we should just forget that ever happened” post-makeout conversation.

This is getting too ridiculous. If there wasn’t less than 20% left, I would consider DNFing it.

Cole is an idiot character and this moronic subplot involving him is making the book worse.

This book is really good and frequently laugh out loud funny, but it could have had about 100 fewer pages of Shay whining about how unlovable she is and how Noah barely tolerates her, even though EVERYONE, including him, assures her that he’s mad about her. It gets old.

Oh, how lovely, the colours change from green to red when they enter the crimson seas. So pretty and clever.

Rescued by pirates is good.

I had planned on reading the final two books in Tasha Suri's Burning Kingdoms trilogy this month, but my mind is absolutely fried with all the assessment work I have to do, so I guess it's revisiting old favourites or trying out cozy rom coms instead.

I'd completely forgotten about Ashmont reading Wollstonecraft to win Cassandra's esteem. The way he really does put in the work to redeem himself is my favourite part of this book. I wish it didn't have the subplot with whatshisface.

Does it count as a love triangle when one third is pond scum and our plucky, super speshul heroine doesn't even like him romantically?

Dude, literally thinking of your poor estranged wife as a possession and a tool is not charming. You may be a lauded war hero, but your also an insufferable a-hole.

Interesting choice, revealing that the heroine was a cruel bully as a tween, before we’re more than 10% into the story.

A book where they protagonists keeps hooking up with other people to prove how over each other they are doesn’t really feel very romantic to me. Also, why can’t they just sit down and have an honest conversation!

Ah, the old ‘we’ll do it once and then totally get it out of our system’. A time-honoured classic. 😄
