I like the female main lead a lot. She is entertaining and clever. Also the story feels atmospheric but not overwhelmed by too much description.. more like the perfect amount. There are darker elements but it’s lined with mild humor. So far it’s great.

Are we there yet?

Worst heroine ever. I thought I hated the sun and the Starmaker girl. No. This girl. This girl is worse. And the book is worse.

In an effort to help me finish this book, I’ve downloaded a library audiobook. I’ve been making fast progress.. 2.45x speed lol otherwise I’d sleep on this one. Boring. But close to the end. Can’t quit now.

So far the book is pretty Basic. All the typical romantasy tropes exist. Touch her and die, shared sleeping arrangement, etc. I’m not impressed, but it’s reading really quickly. Feels YA. A Couple of my pet peeves: (the word “male” being used to describe various men, even human men oddly enough. Also, she claimed at one point to not be strong enough to wield a broadsword. Sword people know this is false.
