Currently rereading this gem for my food culture lecture next week!

Affronted by the truth in some of its pages. I like it???

Story is so, so close to my heart. I wonder how I can finish this without bawling 17x.

Picking this up again after years of putting it on hold. And thing just hit different post-pandemic after I reread that first story. Wish me luck.

Ok, now Jae has got me smiling.

Thoroughly enjoying its description of Filipino food and family culture. But the story, not so much?! Pacing is off and inconsistent at times. Nonetheless, I shall continue reading.

Admittedly got too excited when I saw it in the library today so I immediately read the first chapter (albeit, with reckless abandon). Looking forward to reading more of Backman's works!

It took me a little while to get used to the slang at first. But then it got me hooked! Would have loved to finish it in one sitting if only I started reading it a little earlier last night.

Surprisingly enjoying it a whole lot more than the first book. It's less romantic and a lot more political this time. Quite endearing to see Minke grapple with the inconsistencies of his own beliefs.

Very much amused at how the first two stories speak of love and devotion from such forlorn characters. I am enchanted.
