Does Hadrian ever become likable? Because right now this guy is an elitist, even after having been reduced to begging in the street and risking his life as a gladiator.

I’m DNFing this book. It’s barely about Area X, more about some jerk of a new director coming in & trying to figure out what’s going on. It’s admin hell, to borrow from another reviewer. I do not care.

Ugh. I really don’t care about the tortured soul that is T.H. White. What a depressing foil for her writing.

Doesn’t really read like a YA novel, (thank heavens) more like a standard novel/mystery that happens to have high school/college students in it. Very good so far.

Unfortunately, this is not well written. Many passages are confusing, the flow is poor. We jump from the fraudulent flour sold to the agency in one paragraph to photographs taken at Bosque Redondo and made available in the 1960’s (yes, it’s not made clear when the photos were taken: 1864 or 1960?) in the next, and then to other issues the Navajo faced in captivity. Sad.

Delightfully readable.

Really enjoying the noir SF flavor. Excellent read.

The various impacts that photos of war can have. An interesting read in light of the conflicts & reporting around the world…Ukraine, Israel…few pictures of Sudan. Who decides who is grievable?

Really thought-provoking philosophical text. How notions of truth, truth-tellers, and outsider self-knowledge and identity can be understood through Chelsea Manning’s resistance activity.

More romance than I wanted. Very slow-paced mystery.

Reading the B&N Collectible Edition of H.G. Wells, but wanted to note the books included separately. Time Machine is for the Victober reading prmpt.

Finished Chap. 5, Dantes has been arrested. Donglar is absolutely odious.

These stories read like koans, one has to embody them. I never was very good at koans.
