Watched Paterson (2016) last week and I’m here to unabashedly say I am primarily here for the man, the myth, the inimitable Adam Driver lol. I was going to read at Mindil Beach yesterday but got caught up with a two lovely Columbian sisters who print their art in shirts and offered to teach me Spanish haha.

Back on track for my reading challenge! It’s been a month since the big move, and even though Darwin has a library (the librarians were so charming, esp when they found out I’m actually living here), I have a huge backlog on my kindle/physical books on my lovely little apartment close to the sea! I’ve yet to find a stable job, but for now…I’m reading by the pool.

I JUST FINISHED THE PROLOGUE AND OMG

I got a kindle because:

I’m leaving soon and where I’m going there are no libraries or bookstores (I also won’t have the capacity to carry books because I will be constantly moving)

I got a ton of those grocery shop gift cards for my birthday and the places you can redeem are limited - but they have Officeworks!

Anyway just saying my kindle era has began and it automatically updates goodreads?!?

The plan: return the book and Greek craft and cooking magazines, and get a new batch of magazines for the γιαγιά I live with. (She will talk to me in Greek sometimes, and I give an enthusiastic thumbs up).

Whoops another random book showed up at check-up. Coincidence? Maybe. Last loan from Coburg Library? I said that a week ago.

I’m not connecting with this book at all, and I’m halfway through

Looked at the text size of this book when I got it from the library and was convinced I wasn’t going to finish it in two weeks. I listened to the audiobook for the first few chapters yesterday and tonight I blitzed through it. What can I say. I love a good family epic.

Endlessly fascinating and surprisingly factual without being controversial. And I thought I had problems as the eldest of 5!

I follow Page Break and this was a recommendation from one of the NYC booksellers. However, I didn’t realise how local it was: in the first few pages. Piedimonte’s was mentioned, as was Barkly Square and several other locations that I consider my usual haunts. I already know I’m going to cry at some point (complimentary)

Just finished the prologue and I’m screaming! Also, this looks like a long read (heaps of characters, real people)! So I’m glad I had this on normal loan and not express.

My new sauna book. Pages not sewn in, but wax not melting, so far. My sister got it for me while at Canberra because she asked me to buy her a specific vape and when I did she was so overjoyed she asked me to pick at book at Big W lol.
