You can tell I’m procrastinating from doing things I need to do before school starts up again. I do also feel like I’m in the mood for reading a ton of books. I feel that way with knitting. Or with any of my hobbies. LET’S GOOOOOOOO

Got a complimentary copy when I went to Ramona Bookstore’s Salon on Friendship, and when I was asked what friendship meant to me, I said that the friends in my life are anchors to reality. Honestly, I’d be a goner by now. Also I’ll finish this by tomorrow, these Australian non-fiction books are easy to read.

I don’t know a lot of Europeans. Just my Mum’s cousin’s husband, who’s always inviting me for tabletop games. Then I bring my “cousin”, who’s not really my cousin but my Dad’s cousin’s son, who wows him with his Batangueño party trick: drinking in quick succession while playing Wingspan. What I want to say is…this is the only knowledge I have of Europe. So I’m struggling here.

Annie messaged me yesterday. Before I left Melbourne she gave me this book, and I thought I’d return a favour so I got her a copy of Uketsu’s Strange Pictures (its’s a crowd pleaser). She wrote to tell me she just finished the book and she is obsessed, and have I read the book? The answer is nope, so now I had to take it out of my suitcase and actually read it. Wave pool will sort it out.

Bought this at the markets, covered in red wrapping paper, have a date with a book, it said. So light! So fluffy! Romance! I've promised the proprietor I was going to go to one of their events, and I keep changing my mind. I do want to support her business though! Started Chapter 1 rolling my eyes but I've had a restless night thinking about Elsewhere, so maybe I need something light and fluffy. Here we are.

Finally catching up on reading and relaxing - I thought 3 weeks of unemployment was boring and then got floored by 10 weeks of 6 day work weeks and adjusting to a new state curriculum. Read the majority of this at the Darwin Waterfront Wave Pool, which is fantastic fun for people who like timing themselves. Anyway, this was $45 at Amazon and my return to dystopian fiction/physical books. I LOVE LIFE.

They say the C word here...calvinist.
I had a calvinist upbringing. Now that I'm an old hag I realise that must have been really weird, being in a predominantly Catholic country. Everyone gets to watch The Buzz on Sundays. We don't.

Also realising how many males who surrounded me in my youth are actually conflicted/closeted...men amirite?!

Went in blind and OMG is this Duolingo telling me I’ve abandoned my Gaelic lessons? There’s just too many letters, Duo! THE LETTERS AND SYLLABLES RATIO THROWS ME OFF! Just kidding I’m off to read this…

Picks up at some point - yesterday I remembered I was on 16% and now I’m here - but now I’m slogging through University. I’ll try to read as much as I can before the era of two jobs starts.

Got this so I can finish We, and now that I’m finished with it I realised I’m on a book backlog and too deep in fantasy land to focus on this so I’ll be back!

Once upon a time I was living as a guest at Greek Orthodox family for a couple of months and was invited to a very elaborate Easter feast. I struck a conversation about how I just needed a great fantasy book, a good yarn, one I can sink my teeth into. The man highly recommended this and I downloaded it straight away. 10% in and I AM HOOKED.

Watched Paterson (2016) last week and I’m here to unabashedly say I am primarily here for the man, the myth, the inimitable Adam Driver lol. I was going to read at Mindil Beach yesterday but got caught up with a two lovely Columbian sisters who print their art in shirts and offered to teach me Spanish haha.

Back on track for my reading challenge! It’s been a month since the big move, and even though Darwin has a library (the librarians were so charming, esp when they found out I’m actually living here), I have a huge backlog on my kindle/physical books on my lovely little apartment close to the sea! I’ve yet to find a stable job, but for now…I’m reading by the pool.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH what am
I reading and why is it off to an electrifying, crazy start?!?

I JUST FINISHED THE PROLOGUE AND OMG

I got a kindle because:

I’m leaving soon and where I’m going there are no libraries or bookstores (I also won’t have the capacity to carry books because I will be constantly moving)

I got a ton of those grocery shop gift cards for my birthday and the places you can redeem are limited - but they have Officeworks!

Anyway just saying my kindle era has began and it automatically updates goodreads?!?

The plan: return the book and Greek craft and cooking magazines, and get a new batch of magazines for the γιαγιά I live with. (She will talk to me in Greek sometimes, and I give an enthusiastic thumbs up).

Whoops another random book showed up at check-up. Coincidence? Maybe. Last loan from Coburg Library? I said that a week ago.

I’m loving this!!!

First book borrowed at Coburg Library! They were actually very nice. I also borrowed a couple of Greek cooking and craft magazines for γιαγιά

Life flows on.

Can I finish this before the new year starts? I'll try.
