Insightful read this far with REALLY good sourcing (you can tell author is a historian) and plenty of prescient info alongside just-good-to-know historical facts.

Invested.

Chapter 22 contains info that connects to the early episode of The West Wing in which Toby and other staff work with an African leader to try and cajole drug companies to provide cheaper drugs — especially a remark made in that episode about a lack of “wristwatches.”

A quote from Chapter 23 that is sticking with me:
“We live in between what we choose and what is chosen for us.”

So far, this feels like listening to a very accomplished, very proper great aunt reading from a notebook filled with her essays on SCOTUS history. She’s also reading me a few Post It notes she’s stuck on to the historical accounts - the Post Its contain commentary from her own experiences of the events she was around for.

Enjoying!

I'm so intrigued by what I've read so far in this book that I'm probably going to finish it in the next day or two. Great writing, fresh content, logical ideas.
