So far- extremely weird. But good weird or bad weird I can’t tell yet.

Fucking loving it. I don’t wanna jinx it, but if this continues this way through the rest of the book I’ve found a new favorite

Interesting so far, I think that as far as nuance when it comes to cultural customs and how those fit into historical context I’m enjoying Debt: the first 5000 years more- but this book so far is more that general overview of how political systems form.
The authors biases are so far relatively clear to see, but they haven’t yet affected the work in any factual way.

Enjoying it a lot so far. It’s obviously very western centric and due to the way asexuality has come about culturally it means the demographic is not a diverse as asexuality naturally is- but they cover that as well so it’s great so far.

Just meh so far. So unless the ending is wildly bomb I’m giving it a 2.5 or 3 stars.
If you read it- trigger warning for rape and the emotional fallout of afterwards.

This book came out in 2012, but it’s still a book that comments on our times today greatly and I suggest it be read by everyone, especially those in America where much of global privatization has been pushed from, but onto ourselves as well as the rest of the world.

I’m enjoying the end of the book a little more, just because it’s touching on practical things I’m interested in at the moment. Still nothing wild I didn’t really already know besides some studies. But a great book

Enjoying it a lot so far. Nothing too groundbreaking for me yet, but I've been reading about behavioral psychology for a hot minute at this point. So far I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a decent broad understanding in the area.

So far it’s good. Like what you expect you’ll get from 1984 when you first pick it up (if you were disappointed by that book like I was).

I’m trying to clear out my ‘currently reading’ a bit and tidy up the books I’ve half abandoned. Hopefully I’ll be a bale to have a pretty clean slate by the new year that way.

Well this certainly falls in with my horror books for October reads.
Also is making me remember and reevaluate a lot of the stories my happy and proud father told me as a child about being tortured and learning to torture people in the military (before it was even legalized)🤡

So far— eh. There’s so good parts but it’s all very heavy handed and feels like I’m being forced to sit through a ‘housing and racism’ 101 lesson when what I had signed up for was an own voices thriller set in a neighborhood suffused with history.
Mostly it just feels like I’m being bashed over the head with a sign saying “DO YOU KNOW WHAT GENTRIFICATION IS? I WILL SPELL IT OUT”
