The titular story, Lake of Souls, was so sweet and sad, and beautifully woven together. A little bit of hope in a big cold universe.

I am frustrated that despite some thoughtful commentary, overall this book is in dire need of editing. It's incredibly repetitive, to the point that sentences are repeated word-for-word on multiple occasions, just a page or two apart. It could be half the length and much more powerful, but instead it's a slog.

Reading Bonds of Brass feels like watching a sci fi adventure movie. The action is so constant that it's a little exhausting for me, but the characters are great fun.

Like most collections of short stories, there are some hits and some misses, but I am enjoying it overall.
