At 60% currently, but this book needs editing - every single person talks about Mrs. Abernathy in the past tense before they know she’s gone. Maybe this is intentional…. but probably not and it’s peeving me.

This one’s bugging me so far. The concept of Christmas starting the day after Halloween would be very bizarre at this time. This is when people still put their trees up on CHRISTMAS EVE!! I’m annoyed by the group murder discussion. How about telling us how the girl was killed??! How about trying to figure out what the $ could be from or for? This doesn’t seem like a natural conversation at all!!

So far, this is definitely feeling like Cousens copied Sophie Kinsella’s My Not So Perfect Life.

I don’t care for how casually this book deals with infidelity, like it’s just accepted that men will at least lustfully look at other women, if not more. The small part with Grace “helping” out the Elpines with their sex life by showing Mr. Elpine her young, naked body so he can get it up disgusted me. It paints a very sad picture of marriage.

On chapter 5 so far: the present tense is really throwing me off. I’m still not used to it. The room rate for a double queen is only $325?? With free minibar & complimentary breakfast & lunch & fine wine and cheese in the afternoon & fresh flowers in the rooms??!! This is not possible. I’ve looked at motels that cost this much!
