So excited to be back in this world.

Things were going well. I was enjoying the story. Then, all of the sudden, the main character becomes overly emotional and unreasonable. I’m finding it incredibly difficult to empathize or sympathize with her. I feel bad for the love interest who has to deal with her.

I find the MC highly unlikable. She gets on my nerves in the worst possible way. She acted like a total B from her first interaction with the main love interest and hasn’t gotten much better since. In the last chapter he made the connection that she’s just shy. I’m sorry, acting like a complete B is not a side effect of shyness.

I attended Holly Black’s event at Book People today. It’s wonderful when an author is as warm and lovely as you imagine them to be. I had to set aside my other book, so I could immediately start this one when I got home. It’s great to be back in this world.

Hit first benchmark for FireNation read-along. Like the various characters and their distinct personalities so far.

The first few chapters were rough. I almost DNFed several times. Now that she’s entered the fae realm things have definitely picked up.

Some of these stories are very strange. I don’t even remember buying this audiobook, but it’s the oldest audiobook I own that is unheard, so I’m listening to it as part of the Unread Shelf Project.

Started a new audiobook during my work commute. It’s about a Gun slinging woman in an alternate/dystopian US.

I like how the story is told in alternate timelines and the flashbacks are from various perspectives.

Started this audiobook for my work commute based on a friend's recommendation. I knew nothing about the story going in, so I was surprised to discover it's about a child prodigy/villain.

I’m having difficulties getting into this book. I feel bad DNFing it so soon, but I can’t imagine it’s going to get any better.

Why is the week after a vacation always so hectic and busy? I wish there were a way to ease back into work. I didn't have any time for pleasure reading throughout the week because I was so busy catching up. At least I had time for some reading last night. I finished Serpent & Dove and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying this book.

Really enjoying this so far, and I’m loving the MC who is smart, assertive, and confident. I especially like that the author does not make the MC’s cerebral palsy her defining characteristic.

I’m halfway through this audiobook and nothing of real substance has happened...

So far, so good ...

Really enjoying it so far. Taking forever since we only listen to the audiobook when we’re both in the car together.

Hubby surprised me with a signed copy! I’m so excited to read it.
