Oh this is adorable. I'm especially enjoying the letters in the middle of the book

so many mysteries in one- starts you out with one mystery then switches to a completely different one halfway through!

This is obviously a slow read for me. I'm trying to take my time and make sure I'm digesting all of the information- I also have to go slow to make sure I don't end up making myself feel like a bad parent

I related to Ike so much right now, as a history nerd who gets frustrated by people's dismissal of history.

pg 30 quote " But the past CREATED the present. Don't you think we should know it?"

another mention of rape-- also not graphic- talks about how bards clean up the act but "this is a gilded lie. Helios rapes Leucothe"- so names it without giving graphic details -- and adds that it's important to peel away the lilting verse to see what is underneath.

I'm enjoying so far- but there is a thwarted attempt of sexual assault beginning on page 94- lasting until pg 96 -- this is a novel in verse so no graphic descriptions but still might be concerning

Another Twist!!! Another moment of Inez being entirely too trusting... but Whit is slowly growing on me again

Whit is a bastard. Yet another twist. Every time I think I find my footing with this book there's another abrupt turn.... I'm still mostly pissed that Whit isn't like Rick O'Connell

This one I'm doing the print version instead of the audiobook-- because I read faster than I listen lol. I can tell that I will want to strangle Whit. I KNOW he just married Inez for her money- which isn't uncommon in historical fiction books- I'm more mad he lost his Rick O'connell vibes. I'm hoping he redeems himself. I still really like Inez. Yes, she sucks at listening and is naive but I like her determination.

WHAT I didn't see THAT twist coming?!?!?! WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NOWWWWWWW

I AM OBSESSED- its like an extension of The Mummy movies and my heart is happy- and I hit a spot and might have screamed "I KNEW IT!" in the car

I am INTRIGUED. I'm interested to see how she ends up staying in Egypt as her uncle wants her to leave. I'm liking the magic aspect though it hasn't been delved into much yet. I do wish there were more parts from Whit's point of view- I'd like to see his thoughts about Isabel's stubbornness and if he is figuring out some of her mysteries.

This book is a gut punch. I am loving it- and it's definitely a good one for helping to show what it feels like when no one around you understands you

This book is ridiculously cute and sweet. Definitely a good introduction to the romance genre for younger readers. So far there is only longing, and discussing kissing. A few mentions about previous kisses- and maybe some IMPLIED thoughts- but nothing spelled out. On top of that Logan (love interest) is VERY adamant that no one is owed ANYTHING which is a great message for everyone to read, esp. in a romance.

Holy crap this book is amazing.

I have mixed feelings with this one. I like the basic story line, not sure how I feel about the relationships

So far it's an interesting book- I have mixed feelings about the disregard Disney has for the actual Greek Mythology- but I do love the Hercules movie so I'm willing to overlook it. Once I finish the book I'll look at more of the myths of the Muses and Mnemosyne so I can then compare how it is. I dislike the equating Hades to Evil though

National Treasure vibes and I am HERE FOR IT

It took about 20 minutes for the hook to set in but now I don't want to put this book down! It's an interesting mix of fantasy and sci-fi in a way that mostly works. There are some spots that it feels a bit on the clunky side but it passes quickly and while it slows down the story it doesn't pull my focus from the story too much

So far the story is fun, its unique and interesting. My only issue so far is that the story involves magical beads gifted by an African Warrior-- but the characters based on the descriptions are all Caucasian. The cheetah illustrations are beautiful and well done- but the ones of humans are only meh.

I am really enjoying this book. The concept is relatable and interesting and Simon is dealing with trauma but in a way that feels realistic to a tweenager
