shivangi bhasin is starting All About Love: New Visions
I have only a few chapters to go but I’m so sick of this book. It’s really well-written, don’t get me wrong, but I honestly can’t wait for it to end. She disclosed the killers ages ago (around ch. 96 I think?) and is dragging the narrative (there are 150 chapters!!). Kill me. Quick. It’ll hurt less than this.

Oh man, this is such a unique reading experience. Carson’s use of language is exquisite

I thought I could finish it today, having only 100 more pages to go. But the contents of the chapter I’m on are horrifying. And one would think that I would come to expect it or have accepted it given how far I’m into the book, but no. It never gets easy.

Painful. Difficult to accept as truth. Solzhenitsyn is my hero. I hope I can have even a tenth of the impact he made with his work. He had an awful life. And this is what he chose to do with it despite his suffering.

The book is incredibly readable and I have enormous respect for Ayyub’s fearless journalism. Her struggle to make public the facts about Godhra is a testament to the decay of the fundamental values of truth and justice, and why this book lacks the refinement it deserves (with respect to editing) in order to become a household staple.
