Dmitri is the best character in this novel

Still crawling thru this thing fairly carefully. There's a lot here to engage with so I have been taking my time. We're on to some Dmitri chapters and he's quickly becoming my guy.

Grand Inquisitor chapter PASSED

I am reading these in a big collection from the library that has a much better cover, and rating them separately should the quality vary too wildly. The first one has a fantastic opening I'll say that much.

I didn't realize quite what I was getting into with this one. Really taking a while to chew thru it. Currently we are protesting a nuclear reactor, busting up a mantis bar in Oregon, and malding over developments on Mars

Really crawling my way thru this one but entertained

My copy is an advance reader from the time of release, so I will be making small allowances for changes that may have come with the final edition

A solid ending to Moore's run. Unlike some writers who delegate story decisions as they get more work, Moore shows his fatigue by choking the page with words upon words. I was also not fond of the opening issues featuring Adam Strange, or the sudden switch to cosmic SF from horror; however, as these things go, it didn't ruin my week.

The final issue features a heartwarming send-off complete with plant sex

Ok so I have like 2 issues left and despite the mountains of text in this thing I only kind of know what's happening

This book is taking me so long because I'm making an effort to take her advice and do the exercises contained within, and Twyla is such a hardass that it's not easy to cram into a schedule with anything else going on in your life.

Very close to the end of this thing, and I'm not sure how I feel; on one hand, the ideas are fantastic and the world really works, at least Winter/Gethen does. I'm told that the Hainish novels don't tie together particularly well so I'll reserve that judgement for now.

On the other hand it's glacially paced and Le Guin really wants me to sit and think with her ideas rather than be entertained, and that's fine but..
