Have not been tremendously active as I’ve moved across the world! If you read this, I hope you’re well. Finally got some time to get back into books.

Some of the characters feel a little shallow (presumably because there’s SO MANY of them) but I will say this is generally good fun. The king is incredibly cartoonishly awful though.
“The cursed eel” is definitely evocative.

Sooo many books from authors I grew up reading have very strange age gaps. As someone now in their 30s: NO, GIRL!

So far feels like a more mean spirited and less well executed Get Out. The book invites that comparison by itself so I'm gonna use it. I really don’t love how the men in this are written (and is part of where “mean spirited” came from).
