Hey reading friends, I'm in the process of migrating from Goodreads to Storygraph, mostly b/c the former isn't really being actively updated (and I don't need to give Bezos and more $), while the latter is still very much being updated, has more statistics, and is just visually much more attractive..

If you ever make the switch, you can find/friend me here:

Brian Psiropoulos is starting The Measure
High concept Lit Fic ala the Leftovers or Station Eleven or Never Let Me Go (which gets name-checked in the novel). It's not a perfect novel--it's a bit preachy in the last 40 pages--but the way that its developed, relatable characters' arcs are all brought together is really impressive.

The greatest compliment I can pay is that nothing I've read previously has made me cry as frequently or forcefully as this book.

I can see why some find this book meaningful, though I found it difficult to get past Nietzsche's generalized misanthropy and pointed misogyny. There is a funny bit with a donkey, though.
