I'm finding myself skipping chapters. I know the author says this book was rushed, and it shows. The plot is nearly wholly recycled from the first 2 books, whole noble houses are acting like outright idiots. The antagonist has an early thought that she is becoming embarrassingly one note, but the character realizing that doesn't really make it any better.

I may not finish this series. The political writing was never the sharpest, but it's really straining belief that the House of Wu wouldn't talk to the emperox, their own house member, and would instead collude with an enemy with no resources who has already been extraordinarily wrong about a declaration of martial law before.

I'm not gonna lie. After 2 books, I am kind of sick of the principal antagonist being Nadashae. We got her house colluding with the house of Wu in the second book- is there really anything interesting that this character can offer at this point?

A little too much "describing my own dream/trip". I understand the point is to normalize hallucinations, but it does drag more than his other works in the middle.

Every pov chapter from the human supremacist is so convincing and disgusting. I can feel my skin crawl. Incredible writing.

I was skeptical about claims that the last book was that much worse than the first 2, but I fear it's true.
Out of our 3 main characters:
* Our powder mage lost her powers and is spending time actively avoiding battles
* Our mad lancer is in a position where he has to avoid conflict and instead stand to the side while his host plays politics
* And our spy is still great. Stay golden, Michel.

I uhhh don't think you should doing things to make your main character less likable 6 books into a series. I'm confident that McClellan has a payoff, but I'm not loving Vlora in this book.

Oh boy, I am struggling.

An interesting enough sci-fantasy, but it definitely shows that this is an early Le Guin work.

Oh my lord. Whenever I am not reading Le Guin, I forget how good their writing is. This book is stellar.

FRANKIE YOU DUMB PIECE OF SHIT

This book is alright. I'm not crazy about Crichton's writing style, but it's not bad by any means. The pacing and dialogue are often cut for action-movie style scenes, and the major flaw with the dinosaurs sight is applied inconsistently and doesn't make a ton of sense. All that being said, I am still enjoying the book and think it's worth reading.

Something just isn't clicking with this one. Like, I don't have an outright critique formed, it's just not keeping my interest.

Man, Cameron is such a phenomenal idiot.

This story took such a turn, and instantly became a classic.

I read Six of Crows without reading the first series and didn't feel like I was stepping into the 4th book in a series. I absolutely feel unready to be reading this, but refuse to check the wiki to get a 3 book summary of a book series that is supposed to be standalone. Here we goooooooo.

What an immediate improvement over the previous book. I was so worried that LOTR was going to fall into the trap of being a classic by virtue of momentum, rather than its own merit. The pacing of the book and series is still an unfortunate artifact of its time, but in this book it is much improved (other than the first chapter properly belonging at the end of the previous book).

I love this book series, but am at least 50% reading it to see if Mary-Love dies horribly. Please, please, please.

This collection is so good. It is really rare to find a story that pits evil versus evil and does it so well.

I am so ready to get more into the Krampus Santa stuff and away from Jessie being the worst.
