Finally getting around to re-reading/finishing this book. Had to return to library before finishing it last time so I bought a copy

This book came out the gate on a five star trajectory. I wish every nonfiction book was this great balance of plenty of details, no bullshit and readability.

So far I'm disappointed by the art, which is way too abstract to be a meaningful cohort of the text. The text pieces are interesting and dense.

This book takes ten sentences to say what could have been said (less meticulously) in one. It's good but I guess I would really just appreciate a long magazine article version. Plus it's already overdue at the library so probably going to halt on this for now.

A real page-turner. Except the part on barns is pretty boring. But the mining raw materials and water works sections were fascinating Driving back from Yosemite a few days ago I saw a reservoir and was able to quickly identify all the structures in the area. Pretty cool!

I just re-read the first half of this book after finishing Kevin Kelly's book What Technology Wants. It's quite interesting to compare the two friends' opinions on technology.

Forcing myself to stop reading this and get some work done; I could easily spend the next few hours finishing it. Best book I've ever read about another culture, topping Futebol: The Brasilian Way of Life

Just got this back out from the library, hopefully I can finish before the deadline this time so I don't have to get on the waiting list for six weeks again....

About 25% through this one but I have to return to the library and I can't renew because there are 3 holds on it already (I'm now the 4th as well). Its popularity is not unwarranted; this has been a great book so far. I'm very picky about fiction, but I can recommend this one based on how enjoyable it has been.I'm not sure I'm going to last the six weeks it will likely take to get back into my hands without buying a!

5 pages in, I thought I might not finish this book. There is something mildly jarring or uncomfortable about the writing style. A few pages later I was hooked. And now I think I like the style; it's a little bit tricky. He plays little tricks on you, but that is actually the perfect thing in this book. I'm starting to treat everything he says with a little suspicion. If he did this on purpose it's genius.

A rational (if hyper opinionated) and comprehensive overview of the things the Federal government is screwing up.

Reading this on my iPhone via the Eucalyptus app which provides a slick interface to public domain Project Gutenberg books.

No novel had brought me this much joy in years.
