Enjoying reading this early SK novel. Glad I am reading it

So I guess what I’m saying is, when we started singing “Honeycomb,” I either knew I was losing her or I didn’t. And I either knew I’d loved her or I didn’t. And I either appreciated her, for all she was in that moment…or maybe I didn’t."

I looked down at all of the people below me. I was only a few floors up from them. I watched them walking from place to place, and I felt jealous of every single one of them. That they weren’t me right then. I wanted to switch places with every man down there. When I pulled my forehead off the glass, there was a huge greasy smudge where I’d touched it. I tried to wipe it away but it just made the window cloudy.

"All I will say is that you show up for your friends on their hardest days. And you hold their hand through the roughest parts. Life is about who is holding your hand and, I think, whose hand you commit to holding."

"You think that tragedy means that the world is over but you realize the world is never over. It’s just never over. Nothing will end it. And I kept focusing on the fact that, with Karen and I, you know, life is just beginning."

"No matter who you choose to go down the road with, you’re gonna get hurt. That’s just the nature of caring about someone. No matter who you love, they will break your heart along the way. Billy Dunne has broken my heart a number of times. And I know I’ve broken his. But yes, that night watching them on SNL…that was one of the times that my heart cracked. But I just kept choosing trust and hope."

"The song ended, and I sort of snapped out of it, and Billy and I looked at the audience and then he took my hand and we bowed. That was the first time my body had so much as grazed his in a very long time. It was the sort of thing where, even after he let go, my hand still hummed."

"Camila and I had just closed on our new house in Malibu, in the hills. Bigger than any house I ever thought I’d live in. With this long driveway and trees shading every part except the deck. The deck was totally unobstructed. You could see all the way out to the ocean. Camila used to call it “the house ‘Honeycomb’ built.”

"When people asked for my autograph, I used to write, “Stay Solid, Daisy J.” But when it was a young girl—which wasn’t often but it did happen from time to time—I used to write, “Dream big, little bird. Love, Daisy.”

Breezing through this iconic read as I listen to music from that era. I grew up with Fleetwood Mac. I still remember hearing TUSK on the radio for the first time as a young child in rural Missouri being blown away by the crescendo arc of that song.
Daisy is my favorite, next Karen, Billy and Graham.

My God🥹

A completely different read from other SK Books, but I like it. It's a fascinating and dark story.

Oh my! Such an evolving book of surprises! I cannot put it down.

Interesting addictive read like all SK books. I love Duma Key
