Someone's about to pull a Sulla! Loving the slow burn of this book; one chapter was dedicated to just a boxing match. Usually such detours would irritate me, but here they work. It's like you're really getting to experience every borderline significant moment of his life.

Five chapters in and I'm loving the slow burn on this book as we follow Gaius (obviously the future Julius Caesar) and his best friend Marcus (Antonius, perhaps?) through childhood mishaps and challenges. I'm curious to see if it will jump ahead by decades at any point or if we'll keep the same steady pace throughout.
