When I found this book in a chronic pain subreddit, I didn’t expect it to be so woo-woo. If you have seen multiple doctors/PTs, but never found relief or a clear diagnosis, this book may be for you. If you are not open to the idea that your symptoms could be psychosomatic, this book is definitely *not* for you.

“if words are the flesh, muscle, and bone of prose, punctuation is the breath.” 🤯
this book told me that i know nothing about grammar, in the most gentle and informative way.

honestly i knew nothing about shirley jackson going into this book and can confidently say she was a bad bitch. or witch? i loved this so much but cannot imagine writing historical fiction where I not just go back in time... but invent a fictional storyline using a real-life person.

jillian is starting Romeo and Juliet
I loved it when I was 14. I loved it at 28. The writing gets more beautiful every time. It is funny reading it now... I used to find Romeo's passion so hot, and now I'm like, he's literally a teenager suffering from depression. Shakespeare's language is so damn good that I don't care that he stole the plot from The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet.

This is one of those books I've seen everywhere but, for some reason, never felt the need to read. I found it at the library, and wow. I want to smoke it everyday of the rest of my life.
