I read this last when I was around 20 and I can tell. Still a good story, though!

This book could have been done now. This is an (overly?) ambitious piece of work. He finishes the chapter with a way out of postmodern theory in the human sciences, and yet there are another 100 pages. Of what he has written thus far, he has several meaningful and intelligent points. He also writes redundancies which do little else than qualify himself as an academic in general. It's annoying.

Guys, I don't know if I can do this.
I'm annoyed by the bad writing. And what does "of Tehran" even have to do with it? This book is a romance, make no mistake. 1950s Tehran is just the backdrop, and seemingly only in caricature. The women are oppressed (ugh, boring) and rather than writing it well, we are constantly reminded by the main character. I'm offended by this book.

Okay, I’m invested…

Please dear God let this book pick up. I will(!) finish it, but I’m currently forcing myself through.
