Oh dear. This is a reread of a book that really helped me 10ish years ago, but it is NOT holding up thus far.

Holy crap, this book is good.

It’s interesting but tough coming to this book after being so familiar with the movie version. I struggled through the Tom Bombadil section until the implication of his backstory in Fog on the Barrow-Downs.

I initially thought I’d met a complete roadblock in the Barrow-Downs chapter, but I learned to appreciate the evocative language even if it wasn’t always clear what was happening.
