Finally! A poem I like! Love Character of the Happy Warrior!

Trudging along... Determined to stick with this.

Picked this up again after setting it aside. The next poem, Simon Lee, was one I could understand and got choked up. Good one.

I think I will forever be someone that just doesn't get a lot of poetry. I would like to enjoy it. It's neat to think that you can tell a story in such a way, but so much is left to try to understand and dig into the meaning. I don't get a lot of it.

"A boy's character is often ruined by his early training, and Tom was guilty of many acts of cruelty to dumb animals which he did not know were wrong, simply because his father had set that kind of example."

Married couple but still too much description for a out of bedroom scene. However,.something happens that's kind of needed to the story, sort of. Didn't need all the details though.

"I know he’s thinking that I never fancy much any more. That I’ve mostly given up on life. And it’s true. It’s funny. When you’re choosing who to spend your life with, you don’t think about how you’ll both feel in your eighties. Whether one of you will be ready to sit and wait for the end while the other one’s keen to cram in as much living as possible."

I think I'm going to like this book.

DNF. Unsure if it's the time in my life or what. It's falling flat for me. Sounds more like an encouragement book than a building up book or teaching book, not what I was looking for.

I've decided to finish and DNF this. Sci-fi is just not for me, even when written by Lewis.

Forgive me, I'm just enjoying myself too much. This author is also having fun, which in turns makes the book all that more delightful. We just had a Sir William at the breakfast table explain, "capital! Capital!" And I died laughing and my cup runneth over!

A lot of similarities between the character and relationship of Ned and Sophia and Gaskell's John Thorton and Margaret Hale. Just finished where Ned's parents set aside half his earnings so as to help him later in life. Interestingly, Mr Thorton's mother did the same. At the same time, I see a lot of Eleanor Dashwood in Sophia. Interesting how the author weaves characters. Delighted so far!

my son is about to start this book. He wanted me to keep track of his progress. ;)
