I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand it is freakin' awesome, but on the other it can be a little dull.

This book is TOO awesome. So far, it's avoided the eye-gouging cliche, peg-knocking, arbitrary antagonism and reactions to said antagonism. But I feel those things lurking... Still, Kaladin jumping down into the sands caused some epic shivers as I silently yelled at the book 'HELL YEAH!". This is one of those books that makes reading a contact sport.

A bit slower to getting into this one, but it's picking up now.

Yeah, I stayed up last night anyway, and it was worth it.

It's 3am and I can't stay awake any more. The ending will have to wait...

Absolutely loving it; except, reading alone at night during a thunderstorm, I got to the part with the Christmas party. Was not expecting what followed. I'm still a little creeped out, but I need to know how things are going to play out!

It was a slow build, but the hook is definitely in; I'm going to lose sleep :)

Didn't know how to take this book at first, then it sucked me in and stole a day of my life from me. Amazing world-building and some great characters. It's a bit annoying that Shallan's story gets put on pause for all of part 2... but I'm sure she'll come back soon.

Three down... while I still like the concept, I'm not really liking the (non)heroes of these stories. I had in mind anti-heroes and so-bad-they're-good sorts, but, so far, these characters are vile. Some sympathy can naturally be found because of the perspective, but I haven't felt for any of them yet. Except maybe the killer plant, he was ok.

Blasting through this book way faster than expected -it's going to be over soon :(

Reading them out of order, but not bad so far. The first one I read had to be the most f*cked up short story I've ever read though: a cross between Hannibal and The Thing, creeped me out.

Just finished the Dragon Actually part. A fantastic, unashamed romp with some surprisingly amazing characters. Can't wait to read about the dragon queen, she stole the ending a little.

And the book goes from meh to awesome...

I'm liking this book way more than I should, but not as much as I'd hoped :( Very underwhelmed by the first sex scene. Reserving judgment though.

Got through the other books and onto this one: just as I'm getting into it, the week-end is suddenly over. Oh well, back to work.

Awesome so far, it's got to be the best mix of setting and genre ever. It better live up to its own awesomeness!

I was hoping that this book would move past constant analysis of primary and secondary sources and discuss the findings of the author. It's a good book, but I just don't have it in me to repeat my uni days with such heavy reading.

Love the setting and premise of this book -the Napoleonic era needs to feature more in book and film. Can't wait to read.

Look what showed up in the mailbox!

The mail has finally arrived!

Just through the introduction. Loving the subject but don't know if my heart's in it right now. Might be a long-term read.

Finally! They're starting to communicate! You know, 'not talking' isn't a good enough source of conflict, antagonism or emotional motivation, IMHO. Still, liking this book more than I expected.

I read way slower than I used to -that and the kids find this alien activity I've taken up so fascinating they insist on reading with me, from the same page, all at once.
