The intrigue is increasing! Honestly, I really enjoy the plant/bio form of magic. It is refreshing and exciting. I do feel this part is dragging a bit. We’ve moved to a new setting and are trying to get to the heart of the matter but I hope there is an exciting teaser or something to excite me again.

The game is afoot. The first mystery was a bit difficult because the nature of the world (specifically of Uxos’ role) in replacing the fern paper was a little unclear. However, it is deeply enjoyable. I’m excited to explore the world more.

I enjoy the fantasy setting, where many of the regular appliances are replaced by magical plants. The world is fantastical and very enjoyable.

The author is my younger brother’s age! This recontextualizes the narrative for me. I could have been her older brother if I had been born in Mongolia. This could have been my family’s story!!!

This autobiographical account of the author’s uniquely Mongolian experience is incredible fascinating. I’m so glad she spent time explaining the nomad culture as well as the transition from Communism into Democracy!
