Book 2 is for journaling, and it has been so useful! I'm slowly getting this book through me rather than simply getting through the book, and it is worth the thoughtful pace! Today I reflected on recent challenges I've faced, processed my recent childbirth experience, and discovered some important lessons I needed to focus on. Not only therapeutic, this exercise is also spiritually enriching.

I'm enjoying this insightful parable on the atonement, especially because my copy is pre-owned so it has the best parts already highlighted. I find that makes my experience even richer. Thank you to the unknown person who read this book with a highlighter!

Highly recommended to LDS women and men. Several essays focus on the feminine divine, how motherhood brings us close to divinity, with lots of quotes from general authorities and early saints who understood this divine connection better than modern latter-day saints. The personal stories are moving. Read with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, this book will enlighten any inquiring heart.

When we started this nighttime readaloud, my son was six. Now he's seven. It's quite remarkable to see him suddenly begin to laugh at the jokes and plays on words that were just over his head before. I hope this will be one he reads again and again as his understanding grows.

Learning is between an individual and his God. If you've ever experienced this type of learning, a true enlightenment of the mind, of the whole person, then you will appreciate this section on the psychology/education theory from Hebraic writings. It is thick reading, but that's generally what you get with paradigm shifts. I'm loathe to put this book down. Very insightful read.

A little thick in parts, but it's worth sifting through for gems. The point of the book, according to the author, is to present ideas and make you think. I'm thinking so it must be working. :) Love the agency education model!

I'm inspired. So many quotes from prophets and scripture introduce the concepts and principles taught in this book. I look forward to more truth in its pages, and more ideas for inspiring my children to seek an agency education.

Interesting facts and research about the physiological differences between girls and boys from the womb! As a mom of all boys, I appreciate this increased understanding of male brain development; it explains quite a lot.

Just got through the first 12 or so "ingredients" for a Leadership Education in the Core and Love of Learning phases. Several are things we already do regularly, or at least occasionally. Some sound really hard, like the 6 month purge. But mostly I agree these are all good things. Looking forward to the next two chapters of ingredients.

Really eye-opening book! I love the quotes from founding fathers, and the puritan pilgrims before them. I'm learning so much I never knew about their motives and beliefs.

Just now getting into the ingredients for Core and Love of Learning phases. I'm pensive after the introductory chapters. So much to think about, but these are theories and assertions well worth thinking about.

I enjoyed every part of this book, from the accounts of deathbed visions/visitations to the near death experiences to the last bit which rebutted science skeptics' myriad theories. Very convincing, and as other reviews have mentioned, very comforting.

Fantastic book! I'm so bummed, though, because I was halfway through it when I had to update my phone and the new kindle app won't read my NetGalley docs.

As an amateur education philosopher, I found Scout's description of her first day of school provocative. Clearly, there's lots of history to this book, but it isn't just Alabama state history or just U.S. racial history or just U.S. education system history. It's a weaving of them together into a story that feels as real as the day you're in. I'm learning much from it.

Not yet to the NDE but her life story is very interesting! She acted as an OB-GYN in a poor Mexico town at the age of 15! That's gotta be life-shaping!
