I’m using an ereader, so it wasn’t until around page 380 that I realized how long this book actually is. Thank goodness I didn’t try to pick up a hard copy, I think I would have been intimidated by this doorstop of a book. That would have been a damn shame, because it’s incredible. Easy to read, hard to put down, extremely detailed but still so clear, a gut wrench story yet very satisfying read.

This book is isn’t really working for me, but there is just enough of the stuff I really enjoy from Jeff Vandermeer’s writing that I’m not willing to dump it. Also it feels important to have a book with some silliness on hand right now.
