I have to say, the trip through the country-side in chapter 17 is among my favorite chapters in this book.

Some strange word choices, clunky prose and dialogue, mixed in with great descriptions and strong characterization so far.

While the writing in this book is very terse, and at times bland, it is still paced exceedingly well and keeps you reading.

So far this book is
1) 90% inner monologue.
2) Tension-less and tedious

Some other notes:
1) The characters feel like they are waiting around on a conveyor belt to be introduced.
2) The writing is bland
3) lots of telling vs showing
4) Characters indistinguishable
5) Motivations/emotions inconsistent

POV bounces around a lot. Needs more grounding in the setting. This is difficult to keep focused on. And honestly, boring.

Lot of repetition so far, and cliche, common phrases.
