Not for everyone with the deep and thoughtful religious history of gospels and the Shroud of Turin. The depth exceeds that of his Rule of Four written over ten years ago. STILL the beauty and elegance of the reunion scene between the runaway wife and mother is the equal ti the best scenes in Tart's Goldfinch.

100 pages in with mixed feelings. It's a passive narrator (but not like in the Great Gatsby but the character the story is about doesn't have as much appeal.) The Shroud of Turin history is terrifically researched if you like religious history. It's a theme that I've used in a paranormal YA time travel piece. I hate to admit it, but mine is more active! I will continue to read in hopes the work straightens out.

Story I wanted explored. On Audible Like normal for me. The use of Puller as id tag gets confusing. Robbie should have stayed as tag since we have 2 Pullers to keep track. Also pace slightly off. Someone has a story on king &maxwell. Conspiracy theory in my reader's mind...

I have the anthology put together by John Scalzi, so this is the first of several in the work. It seems to be broken down by each story here. Fascinating idea for an anthology. We'll see how it goes.

Perfect name. Memoirs are common but the mix of compelling truth and great story telling isn't easy to find. Carrie S Bell's fight with breast cancer reads like an intimate diary open to the world to open eyes.

"To each person fighting this disease, I wish the best possible medical care, a tidal wave of love...and specks of joy to keep you going when you feel hopeless and sad."

I'm listening via Audible. Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan. Yes, the narrator is reading flat and bland, but that's Harry Bosch, right. I like the deep police procedures which isn't for everyone.

OK. Great characters. Great intriguing plot. But too much interior monolog... Everything else is good. Action bits excellent. But that exposition...

I can't help but wonder how typical the main character's father is, and hope that he is.

7% through The Secret Sky: A Novel of Forbidden Love in Afghanistan by Abawi, Atia ? An 'I' for every heart beat? It is tiring but I'll persevere. And there are many modifiers and 'ly' adverbs. Its not what I expected.

Solid traditional structure provides an excellent skeleton for the many complex characters.

This beautiful narrative will lead to a blog piece on the differences between young adult and adult. So far? I would call this young adult since the main character is a teen. Lovely 1960s setting. Sort of reminds me of the 2013 Newbery winner Gantos book. Only this is far deeper in nature. Gantos targets upper middle grade; this would appeal to high schoolers as much as adult. Loving it.

The Korean scenes and mythology are wonderful. Would like more commitment from the main character at this point, but I'm enjoying the plotline. Definitely reading on!

Large sections of world building through out drags you into the muck of this near future world of plummeting birthrates, increasing birth defects, and twisted religious fanatic government takeover. Paints frightening female conditions of epic depravity.

It completely lacks an assertive female lead and breaks severely with traditional story line plotting features. The 1/4 has no break out moment for protagonist.
