I've read just about everything Anne Rice has ever written. It's been awhile since there last Vampire Chronicles book "Prince Lestat" and I've read many other things since.
First, reading this is like putting on those old sweatpants; both familiar and comfortable. As with any break between episodes, there are subtle plot lines that are a little fuzzy on details in my memory. But, that is quickly passing.

I've been enjoying these books as i read in bed before sleep. Wouldn't compare them with epics from Tolkien or Martin, but enjoyable.

I do love these books and have no doubt I'll devour every one of them. I'm even looking forward to "The Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring" which will conclude the series. As far as this one, I'm findiing the descriptions of sex scenes a bit sophomoric and some descriptive analogies not quite as poetic I've ever read. But I love the complexity of this world and find it an incredible work. I'm so hooked!

Still absolutely loving this series. Love the political intrigue with the medieval fantasy aspect. I loved the Dune series for the same reasons. It had everything: political intrigue, science fiction/fantasy, mysticism/magic. This series has depth.
