Translated contemporary fiction is in a golden age right now with increased accessibility and niche publishing houses dedicated to showcasing non-Anglophone voices from around the world. I have found myself reaching for translated works more and more to avoid the unfortunate publishing trends and homogenizing influence of the MFA writers workshop on fiction from the native Anglophone world since the mid-aughts.
