So I feel dumb. I'm super confused reading this, feeling like I'm missing something and getting annoyed at the author. Turns out this is the 3rd book in this series. Whoops.

I'm slogging my way through this book. The two parts, discworld story and philosophical treatise on humanity, don't seem to mesh well together and they slow you down. Every time I start getting into something, it flips to the other section. I might try just reading it the rest of the way just the story and then finish reading the science.

Really disliked this book. Too preachy and the heroine was so passive it killed me.

I'm realizing that I might want to reread the previous book if I want to understand this one.
