I love how information about this world is being given to the reader. I'm really appreciating how Sanderson right from the beginning of the book, treats the reader like they already know what's going on, and gradually through character actions and conversations gives context for how magic, society, politics works. Great example of how authors should "show, not tell."

This book definitely would help to explain why many ADHD (and, I would argue, autistic) symptoms and behaviors mirror those of CPTSD. The brain is structurally affected by stress -- this book posits that stress experiences in gestation, infancy and very early childhood have an inhibiting affect on the growth of brains in such vulnerable stages of development.
