Simon is 50% done with Dune (Dune, #1)

I originally read this in the early 70s, so I thought it was time for a reread. Considering this was written in 1965, it is still one of the best SF books ever written. I may have to read Dune Messiah again too.
I've previously read some of the other sequels as well, but they are nowhere near as good as the first two books.

I've waited quite a while to read this series. Still not quite sure who the good and bad guys are - but I think I know.
A lot of characters - ever now and then I have to stop and think about who someone is - a lot of similar names!
So far so good.

Very well written, but, as yet, I have not got a scooby about what is going on. Large chunks written in the second person which is weird to read.

Simon is 40% done with The Girl in the Spider's Web (Millennium, #4)

I'm struggling with the book. I'm finding the prose a bit flat, possibly because it is translated. I'm not denigrating the translator, it's that the very fact of the translation loses something of the original writing. That's my view, I might be wrong.
