I’m not actually reading this book. It’s nonfiction. I don’t often finish nonfiction.

It’s a Beautiful book. I knew nothing about rowing before but this combines history and beautiful writing. It’s like I was there.

They say it’s good, so I’ll continue. So far, not really my style; which I initially thought was good. New= not predictable. Excellent turns of phrase, a LOT of new vocabulary words.
But, it’s post-apocalyptic- nothing’s happening quite yet. Will anything happen? What?

I think I’m on page 30; I also skipped ahead to find a different “passenger” and avoid the political talk, so maybe I’m on page 85... (I have two bookmarks in the book.)
I was looking for an interesting anecdotal series of “interviews”; this is not that. When the 270+ page book has a “list of characters” that only has 18 people on it, and an 11-page index, it’s not light reading.

Beckynetc (Clark) is on page 26 of 229 of Tied Up in Knots: How Getting What We Wanted Made Women Miserable
I felt guilty after reading the first chapter but it sounds like an important concept, so I will pray that I can read the rest (or at least a majority. I’m not generally a non-fiction gal.)

I don’t know the author- I have to look her up. Wish I at least knew her birth year. She’s already referred a lot to “my generation”.

I did not watch the movie. The book is enjoyable, if one can say that about such a story. Writing is well done. Not only is this one of only four books that have sustained my attention in the last months, I’m enjoying the “old” vocabulary.

Beckynetc (Clark) is 85% done with The Nightingale
With a name like ‘Nightingale’, I had a nurse war book in mind. It’s a war book, but not Florence. I suspect I’ll be done reading this book soon (about 10 days after I actually started it), but I may not get back around to reviewing.
The writing is decent- I keep turning the pages, but I don’t think I’ll love it enough to recommend.

Beckynetc (Clark) is on page 151 of 277 of Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail
I’m not sure why this was a bestseller. There are a lot side stories that I am skimming over. I am interested in Emma, that’s all. Her back story is included, which delivers, but she’s only 300 miles away from her destination and I know very little about her day to day hike. It’s like the author is recounting her diary, but her diary is very short on personal details.

It’s hard not to think of it as an autobiography and I don’t want to think of the creator of Lake Wobegon as an adulterer.
Too much reference to sex, for my taste. May not finish reading.
Too many references to Minnesota. We understand; that’s where you’re from (me too), give it a rest.

I think I got this at a garage sale. I’ve read two essays but am not sure I agree with his lifestyle.

I went to Half Price Books the other day and allowed myself this one. I picked it up to learn about the man but it’s a little slow going and I’ve primarily learned about the world of competitive bird sighting so far.

Coffee table book; don’t think I’ll actually read all of the quotes. It’s eye opening, and I agree, libraries are awesome, but the quotes are all similar. Important to look at while at the library but not necessarily need to take home.
