This book is fascinating and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
I'd be curious to hear the thoughts of anyone else I know who has read it. It throws the USA into a very different relief than I am used to and explains a lot of regional differences. Regions as destiny instead of race or heritage (to an extent - too complex for 500 characters here).
