Not really enjoying this. I cannot feel any empathy for the main characters at all. Its a struggle to keep reading this book.

Not enjoying this at all. Obviously no research done at all. One of the characters, whilst viewing a bombed pub, asks why it hasn’t been rebuilt! Most able bodied men were in the forces, this was 1944, building materials were in very short supply, all production was geared towards the war effort. Doesn’t anyone edit these books?

I've always liked Katie Flynn novels but this one is driving me mad! It's set during the war but everything about seems wrong to me, the names of the characters seem too modern, Cadie, Jez, Raquel! the generation were Alice, Mary, Dorothy and Joan. It starts off with a group of friends meeting in a pub and having a meal, I'm pretty sure pubs didn't serve meals back then. Bar snacks only came in in the 60s/70s.

I'm really quite cross about this book, I picked it up in the library where it was filed among other Agatha Christie novels and as you can see, the name of Agatha Christie is the first thing you see on the front cover, only to find that it is written by Sophie Hannah??

Ellie Griffiths is one of my favourite authors. I am trying to pace myself! Trying to savour the book. She is such a good writer that I sometimes read the book through twice !!

What joy! I went to library and found the latest in the Seaside Knitters series! I have been looking for this for some time, for some reason they are not available on Kindle and as they are published in the States they don't get to our library for ages. I am going to savour this one.

So looking forward to this book!
