I'm increasingly upset at Harry for the curse she placed on Kat. It's exceptionally cruel with very little foresight. Yeah Kat is delulu, but she could've learned heartbreak with normal exposure to jerks than this level of cruelty.

Also true love doesn't happen in your teens lmao. I'm having the toughest time trying to connect to that concept as an adult.

Harry is definitely out of pocket for how controlling she is, but you have to admit it: Kat was definitely being ridiculous and needed to be reeled in.

I'm actually really enjoying how Scottish history is being integrated in the story so far! It's fun!

I didn't realize this was going to be YA. Neat!

Also I knew I liked this author when I saw this book, but couldn't place how I knew her stuff until I got home and realized she also wrote "Secret Hollywood Life" which was the BOMB when I was a preteen.

I'm hoping switching to historical fiction kicks me out of this bad spooky reads rut I dug myself into.

I'm actually quite disappointed about how fast this is going. This is pretty fun and I like the characters so far.

At this point, I'm basically finishing the book on cruise control because I already spent the Hoopla borrow on it. Like it's still relatively harmless. Just boring.

Also I still don't understand Dylan's motivation here. I'm with the brother.

Books that don't need a sex scene, but okay sure I guess we'll have one, for 500, please.

Gosh this book is a HOOT! I'm having such a fun time! For as much as I want to finish it, I also don't want to finish it and actually want to enjoy the final moments rather than be sooo sleepy for them.

So far, pretty harmless. Although I'm also questioning why this dude is helping out on the farm so much.

This book is absolutely holding me together right now. I love it so much.

NGL I'm kind of surprised this was already on my TBR tag on Goodreads. But I don't want to think while reading right now and this is where I landed. This very cute Hallmark-esque "save the farm" fall book lol

Odne and Gimli, who have both had entire romance arcs and career changes since Sidne was taken by the raiders back in chapter 2: ...........yes. That. We'll go with that.

I am, in fact, the target audience for this book and I'm having an amazing time.

I gotta be honest - I'm not loving all of the ambiguity that's supposedly moving this plot along. I've got too many unraveled threads to follow to keep track of everything here.

Gimli is very annoying.

I don't know how to describe it, but this book feels like October.

There's certainly a lot of focus on Norse men and their feelings for this being such a female driven book.

Also has anyone checked in on Sidne in a while? She's been kidnapped by the raiders for a while now. For that being a primary motivating factor for these girls' decisions, they're certainly in no rush to actually resolve it.

We have done next to nothing regarding the big witch battle they keep hyping, but these girls sure know how to have fun with their drama.

Norse mythology is cool. Norse witches are cool. Old Norse culture is cool. This book is just so cool so far.

Spooky reading time!! I'm really enjoying the voice so far in this. It's fresh and fun!

Not really that spooky, but "Witch" IS in the title of it so I'm counting it for my spooky reads this year.

This is less of the "dorky YA fantasy about necromancy" I was expecting and more "thinly veiled Geisha fanfiction" featuring characters that I could really care less about. The magic system is confusing me too. I have no idea how it works.

Might as well get started on my spooky reads now. I've got a lot to get through! Shoutout to the mood ring magic system though. This seems fun.

Man that SA story came out of nowhere. Still a beautiful collection of short stories, so I was very surprised when it got so dark so quickly.

Pretty good little collection so far! I love how soft it is and the little snapshots that feel like such a full world and story in such little time.
