I’m stuck at 70% and have been for a month! Does the plot ever kick back into gear?

Checked out so I could read “Off the Grid,” the first story where Nell Ingram appears, before the Soulwood series of books. Then moved onto “Cat Tats,” the story of how Rick Lafleur got his black magic tattoos.

At 60% and skimming rapidly. The twists in this one are so obvious, I’m just waiting for shoes to drop so I can ditch this book.

Picked up so I could read “Sooner or later your wife will drive home” by Genevieve Valentine. Good and creepy in a Shirley Jackson style.
