Badly written and painful to read compared to the other books I'm in the middle of.

Working on it :) I have the audiobook and only really listen on long drives so it's taking me a while.

I've glanced at some pretty negative reviews of this book in the course of reading it. Among other things, accusations of Mary Sue-ism and overly long writing abound. I am loving this book anyway... probably because I enjoy placing myself into a main character's shoes and letting the story happen. And this is a great story to be in.

This book is kind of slow. Not really much has happened yet - just some travel and talking.

Loving it. Similar to the Dresden Files in that the books is in 1st person and from the POV of a powerful sorcerer.

Looking great so far. Love how this is intelligently written, unlike so many books around.

I shouldn't really have time to read this, but I am. It is great.

Lol, Goodreads applied my status update about a good book to a bad one. I deleted the status, but I wonder who else will see it. :)

Whoa - this might turn out to be a 5 star book, at least 4 stars. Funny considering it only has 4 reviews. I really like following a smart and capable protagonist like the main character - plus no POV jumps.

Pretty good so far. Maybe the main character isn't too smart all the time, and there is a little romance, but it doesn't get in the way that much.

Typical female urban fantasy so far - not much good at progress, good at talking and doing mundane stuff and thinking about guys.

All the supporting characters tell the main character how awesome and "true to herself" she is, and how she only fights when she has to. However, I don't see much of this in her actions. (The main character is so anger-prone that she almost fights all the time, not just "when she has to.")

Plus, the little romance just gets in the way - someone tried to kill Alexa and she is just focused on a BF for pages after.

Kinda slow...and Mr. Norrel is a bit to absent-minded and not a great thinker. If he really wanted to re-establish magic and show he is real, he should do more magic. :P

Pretty confusing and rambling. Though I kind of enjoyed the writing...it's going nowhere fast.
