It's interesting to read about characters that don't shy away from conflict! Cathy and Heathcliffe are all up in each other's business even though they aren't married to each other. Isabella tells Cathy her feelings for Heathcliffe, and even though he doesn't return them, he goes to see Isabella. Catherine is angered by this, and Edgar is involved as Heathcliffe punches him in the face. Catherine is sick of this.

It’s interesting how Catherine isn’t necessarily nice to Heathcliffe and he isn’t necessarily very kind to others either, but they are still clearly possessive about each other.

Isabella confessed her feelings about Heathcliffe, and Cathy went off on her.

Finally seeing Heathcliffe come home after their father came home after 3 long days from Liverpool.

A different and quiet boy lead to a lot of discontent from the kids, nakedly Hadley, seeing the favoritism from Mr. Earnshaw.

Heathcliff understands this and uses it to his advantage to tell on Hadley which turns into a physical altercation.

He turned away from the woman that had once given him birth
And cryin' out to the sky, 'cause he was lonely and scared
But only the Devil responded, 'cause God wasn't there
And right then he knew what it was to be empty and cold
And so he was dropped off the sky and died with no soul
They say death takes you to a better place, but I doubt it
The crows ate him and Madrid never spoke about it.

Chapter 11 is one of the most damning chapters I’ve ever read in any story.

Ambrosio’s actions on an Antonio that has been poisoned, drugged, held in captivity amongst corpses and decay and skulls and death all around her. She thinks herself dead and tries to push away the most praised authority around as she is trying to make sense of her betrayal. We learn of Agnes fate and her baby’s. Raymond and Lorenzo.

I think this area now is the deep disturbing part of the story we've been so warned about. Matilda covering for Ambrosio's abuse on Antonia and attack on Elvira is crazy. Ambrosio plots to be alone with Antonia after he poisons her. Elvira's ghost has been appearing at night, and he is trying to run from his demons literally.

After Elvira's death, Antonia has an episode where she tries to connect with her late mother through sitting with stories at her old desk. A storm hits and she has horror visions of a white dressed figure resembling her mother telling her she will see Antonia in 3 days time. The workers there freak out and without knowing what to do they get the last authority they should have thought of. Ambrosio.

Wow~! To be honest, I nearly stopped reading this book altogether because I thought it was just a chapter or two of just yapping. A lot of yapping. After the tense scene with Ambrosio in Antonia's apartment with Elvira, now I must finish this book, I'm afraid. The self rightous duality of his public image compared to his private is now inescapable. The story is incredibly tense and a must finish now.

Agnus the bleeding nun! The visual of her showing up to Raymond’s room with a bleeding bloody dress and cold lifeless lips only for her to disappear again from the castle room as he lays tormented and sick. Even though it’s text, the visuals are captivating.

Learning about how localities always just want to bring businesses to an area, inserting money and capital without considering people. Although a longer time investment, people are cheaper, organic, and sets up a conveyer belt of investment, ideas, jobs between the new country and the original.

Ahhh he admitted to killing the cousin. The sunshine and elements remind him of the positivity and potential of nature. But when he is hurt mistakenly thought of causing harm to a lady he saves by the river, he thinks of humans as an inherently dangerous species culminating in hurting a child, relative to his creator.
