Wish Joan's character were a little more force of female power, and less "sight." She was more compelling as a side character in the big novels. Now, she feels timid rather than self-possessed.

Whole story less compelling than the novels, so far. Disappointing. Like eating processed cheese after Roquefort.

I couldn't get through the book on the page, but I did finally listen to the audio book. I thought the voice actors did a great job with a book that was a little bit sloggy.

It's depressing to me that Atwood decided to topple Gilead; more useful would have been to leave the seeds of future totalitarianism in place. I had hoped that's what the epilogue would do, but was disappointed.
