26 pages in and my cheeks are sore from smiling at how mundanely charming this is. Imagining a huge orc feeling nervous to sit at a bar and eat her dinner kinda made me cry too.

After like 500 pages we’re finally getting somewhere.

I think it’s hilarious vis has a guard wolf because dude we know you’re the main character, you really don’t have to do all that but I love it.

I’ve decided the only way I’ll know if I really liked the first book is to see how it resolves in the second so here goes nothing.

P.S. my gut still feels like the ending of the first book kind of makes a lot of that book seem pointless but I’m interested where this goes.

I’m intrigued.

Sometimes you encounter a “somehow palpatine returned” moment and you have to roll your eyes and get over it. Gonna suspend my disbelief and I’ll be happier that way cuz I’m liking the rest so far.

Not the point at all because there’s no way a world this big could not be picked apart. However, the more I read, the more glaring I find the issue with apparition. How can anyone be captured when you can just apparate away. They try to work around this with protective charms that limit it but in general it seems like a huge loop hole. Doesn’t ruin anything for me, but just a thought.

Exactly halfway through and I have thoughts. The first and most glaring thing is how jarring it is how quickly they stop saying “Voldemort” because Ron asked them not to. I can only say this is in hindsight but it’s very out of character for everyone, especially Hermione who had a significant arc in finally saying it in book 5.

This is literally a way darker version of the three white lotus girls from season 3 and it’s great. There has actually been some audible laughter because it’s so perfectly passive aggressive and cunty. It’s like a duck on water, calm when they’re going about their day to day but under the surface that fucker is FRANTICALLY kicking with all the subtext and beef brewing.

Um okay this is kinda ridiculous but I’m curious where it goes. The whole kidnapping plot got old after like 4 pages, and it’s really dragging on.

IVE BEEN BAMBOOZLED. I really have to be less trusting when I read these books, because it’s only led to me getting my heart broken by characters I wanted to trust but knew deep down I shouldn’t. Should be illegal for authors to take advantage of my good nature.

Wow I actually saw a plot twist coming from a mile away for once. Time to celebrate

(The book is still phenomenal so far but that was just one of the plot points)

I’ve never read 165 (large print) pages of a book the first sitting after I start it, so I have to assume that’s a good sign
