This man can’t write women and I’m irritated by it so much. Sophie is a HORRIBLE substitution for Farrah, she’s so clearly a male fantasy. She falls into every single female-written-by-a-male stereotype, it’s not even funny. Cassandra’s breakup with Jason was stupid af, one because it makes no fucking sense for so many reasons and two because eventually he’ll be with Sophie and that is a major downgrade.

Honestly? I hate this.

I can respect that Crouch watched some YouTube education videos about DNA and tracheotomies, but not showing similar dedication to how and where people get injections is just annoying.

NO ONE gets injections in the neck, dude. There are so many wickedly important structures in the neck, and hitting any of them can be devastating. This trope is annoying in film and worse in books.

Oh, the name choice is so fucking unfortunate. Why’d she have to pick the same name as the c*ntiest doctor I ever worked with ? Especially when her name is Lovelace, which is so beautiful. 😭

I’m having so much fun.

I’m having the time of my life. Amazing.

I at first wasn’t feeling it but have been swathed by magic. This is somehow Vita Nostra with a floral, hopeful tone, and I mean that in the most positive of ways.

This is a dramatic change of pace from the last book I attempted, in the best way. A middle aged man lost his wife to breast cancer and bonded with another man who lost his wife in a tragic accident. They go fishing together. That’s it. And it’s riveting.

I’m finna give up on this. Everyone wants to tuck the main character apparently, and he’s a child abuser with character development flatter than a conservative’s version of Earth. If the book tells me about his blonde hair or another person who has been in love with him for decades, I will throw this book across the room.

I’m not getting the hype even though I’m 1/5th of the way through. Maybe it’s the translation, but this feels repetitive as hell and full of telling rather than showing. The MC is an insufferable father, and the main conflict is alluded to in tones so vague that it’s hard to care about the stakes.

I’ve been in this series so long I remember characters’ names better than my mother’s.

This series is single-handedly trashing my reading goal for the year. Also I need to reread Warbreaker.

I am pleased by how much better this book is on second read when you skip every self righteous thing Lirin says.

This pacing is better than I remembered, and I’m grateful for that.
